Healthcare Inspectorate Wales Annual Report 2010 – 2011

6 Feb 2012

Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, Wales’s independent healthcare watchdog has launched its seventh Annual Report.

HIW’s role is to provide assurance to patients and the public that healthcare services in Wales are safe and of good quality. To do this HIW undertakes inspections and investigations into the provision of healthcare commissioned and provided by Welsh NHS and independent healthcare bodies and makes recommendations to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, quality and safety of healthcare in Wales.

The annual report looks back at the wide ranging activities of HIW during 2010-2011, including how the inspectorate develops its approach to capturing and using the experiences of health service users in their work and on the part they play in monitoring the quality and effectiveness of NHS bodies’ own approaches to citizen engagement.
